Kifaru Expeditions is the Tanzania-based safari business responsible for the personal information it collects through this website and its direct enquiries. For privacy questions or requests, email safaris@kifaruexpeditions.tz. This policy covers travellers, people making enquiries, travel partners and website visitors. Where a separate travel agent or supplier collects information for its own purposes, its privacy notice also applies.
When you enquire, we collect the details you provide, such as your name, email address, telephone number, country, preferred dates, party size, interests and budget. Correspondence and itinerary discussions form part of that enquiry record. If a booking progresses, we may need travellers’ names, dates of birth, nationality, passport details, emergency contacts and information required by accommodation, transport, park or other travel suppliers.
Please do not send passport copies, payment-card details or sensitive medical information through the general enquiry form. We will explain what is needed and how to provide it when arranging the relevant service. Share another person’s information only when you are authorised to do so and have brought this policy to their attention. Information about children should be provided by a parent, guardian or authorised group organiser.
We use enquiry details to respond, prepare proposals, answer questions and communicate about your journey. Booking information is used to arrange and deliver requested services, share essential details with relevant suppliers, manage changes, provide assistance and administer payments and records. Technical information supports website operation, security and fault investigation. Optional analytics and advertising technologies, where enabled, are subject to your cookie choices.
Depending on the activity and applicable law, processing is based on steps you request before a contract, performance of a contract, legal obligations, consent or legitimate interests such as responding to enquiries and securing our services. We consider the effect on your rights when relying on legitimate interests. Sensitive information, for example health or accessibility requirements, is requested only when relevant to your arrangements and handled with consent or another lawful basis where applicable. We do not treat a safari enquiry as consent to unrelated marketing.
Information may be shared with the people who need it to handle your enquiry or deliver your journey: our team, the travel partner involved in your booking, accommodation providers, transport operators, guides, park authorities and other relevant suppliers. Website hosting, email, website maintenance and enquiry-processing providers may handle information on our behalf. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or reasonably necessary to address fraud, protect safety or resolve a legal claim. We limit sharing to what is relevant to the purpose.
A safari can involve suppliers and service providers in more than one country. Your information may therefore be processed outside your country of residence, including in Tanzania and the countries in your itinerary. Applicable legal protections may differ. Where a restricted international transfer is involved, the safeguards, permissions or other transfer conditions required by applicable data-protection law must be in place. Contact us if you would like information about a transfer connected with your booking.
We keep information for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, including enquiry follow-up, travel arrangements, accounting, legal obligations and the resolution of disputes. The period depends on the type of information, the services involved and any legal retention requirement. Information that is no longer required should be deleted or anonymised, with backup copies removed through the normal backup cycle. You may ask us about the retention of your own information.
Access to personal information should be limited to authorised people who need it. No website, email system or electronic transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. If you suspect that information connected with your enquiry has been compromised, contact us promptly. Before paying, independently verify any unexpected change to bank details through a previously established contact.
Depending on the law that applies and any lawful exceptions, you may request access to your information, correction, deletion, restriction, information about its use, or object to processing. Portability may also apply. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. Send requests to safaris@kifaruexpeditions.tz.
Our Cookie Policy explains website technologies and consent choices. Linked websites operate under their own policies. Sending an enquiry does not give permission to publish your photographs or personal story. If you choose to contribute photographs or a testimonial, we will agree the intended publication and attribution separately.
Please contact us first if you have a privacy concern so we can investigate. You may also raise a complaint with Tanzania’s Personal Data Protection Commission, or another competent supervisory authority where applicable. We may update this policy when our services, website or legal obligations change. The date below identifies the current version.
